Karl Lagerfeld, faleceu nesta manhã de terça-feira (19), aos 85 anos de idade. E a Chanel, anunciou nesta tarde, que o sucessor de Karl será Virginie Viard, um parente desconhecido, que assumirá o cargo de diretor criativo da marca.
A Fashionista havia especulado alguns nomes para a substituição como, Marc Jacobs, Haider Ackermann e um dos designers favoritos de todos os tempos de Lagerfeld, Hedi Slimane. No início, Lagerfeld lançou um livro dietético, explicando que sua principal motivação para perder peso era se encaixar em um dos ternos Dior Homme de Slimane.
Durante a maior parte do tempo na Chanel, Lagerfeld trabalhou ao lado de Viard para desenvolver as várias coleções anuais. Ela também se envolveu com ele no final de muitos shows recentes, incluindo a coleção de alta costura da primavera de 2019, na qual Lagerfeld não pôde comparecer devido a doenças. Finally, one cannot refer to Karl Lagerfeld without mentioning his innate sense of repartee and self-mockery.
